Max Amarria is a cosmic guidebook for a modern age—born from the stars of New Eden and rooted in the evergreen truth of Holly, not Holy. Written by Charles White, the Space Pope of EVE Online, it offers reflections, wisdom, and gentle provocations for those navigating a complex world. This is not a religion, but a reminder: you can choose to be an angel or a demon in this lifetime, and how you live echoes in the memories of others. It's not a holy book, there are enough of those, this is a companion book for those that need this now.
Purpose, I find, is not about the self. It is about others and connecting with each other at junctions. At times, during my working career, at various companies, I found that, do the right thing with others at the work place, and suffering political consequences, has always led me to meeting other fabulous people as I moved forward.
Max Amarria and follow up works by Charles White provide a valuable direction towards rationality and truth. Other recent writings, about what arises out of quantum possible histories, and those writings that describe space, quarks, fields, forces and all that is observable and detectable, help in the direction that Charles is addressing. However, there is also a mystery that is real and objective and recognizable.
The mystery arises from human limitations. Human limitations, even if we could gather all of human knowledge and memories since humans began, and with all the AIs and other tools at human disposal, there are limitations. Those limitations arise from what is not known. As humans poke at the unknown, they also forget and reevaluate the known, but there seems to always be something more.
One translation of the Tao Te Ching says,
The way that becomes a way
Is not the Immortal Way
.
.
the maiden of Heaven and Earth has no name
Another translation of the Tao Te Ching provides that,
The unnameable is eternally real.
Naming is the origin of all particular things.
Free from desire, you realize the mystery.
Caught in desire, you see only manifestations.
Yet mystery and manifestations
arise from the same source.
And yet another translation of the Tao Te Ching provides that,
So, as ever hidden, we should look at the inner essence.
As always manifest, we should look at its outer aspects.
These two flow from the same source, though differently named.
And both are called mysteries.
The Mystery of mysteries is the door of all essence.

Truly Wonderful and wise words Mr. White! its an honor to read your writings here, thank you for them!

In reading Charlie’s book I find it flowing smoothly like poetry in art or art in poetry as it describing how or why we got here.
